Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Commercial Mechanical Estimator to join our estimating team. This role is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of mechanical construction practices and the ability to interpret complex project documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze project plans, specifications, and related documents to determine the scope of mechanical work.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical piping systems.
  • Perform material and labor take-offs using digital tools or manual methods.
  • Solicit and evaluate pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to clarify project requirements and resolve discrepancies.
  • Develop and maintain cost databases, historical pricing, and unit cost data.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of bid proposals and tender documents.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client presentations as needed.
  • Identify value engineering opportunities and cost-saving alternatives.
  • Track and analyze project costs post-award to refine future estimates.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator in commercial construction.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
  • Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Trimble, FastPIPE, QuoteSoft, Bluebeam) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with BIM and CAD software.
  • Knowledge of local building codes and industry standards.
  • Experience with LEED or sustainable building practices.
