Position Overview

The Service Manager will be responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of a growing HVAC Service Department. This individual will oversee technicians, service agreements, repair projects, customer relationships, and department performance while helping drive continued growth throughout the Central Texas market.

The ideal candidate is a strong leader with a commercial HVAC background who understands both the technical and business sides of service operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the daily operations of the HVAC Service Department.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of Service Technicians and field personnel.
  • Oversee scheduling, dispatching, workforce planning, and technician utilization.
  • Manage preventive maintenance agreements, repair work, and service-related projects.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers while supporting business development efforts.
  • Review proposals, service reports, repair quotes, and maintenance contract renewals.
  • Monitor department performance, revenue, profitability, labor efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Recruit, hire, onboard, and develop service personnel to support continued growth.
  • Conduct ride-alongs, performance reviews, and ongoing coaching for technicians.
  • Collaborate with sales, account managers, and operations leadership to identify growth opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with safety programs, company policies, and industry standards.
  • Support resolution of escalated customer concerns and emergency service situations.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of commercial HVAC service experience.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience managing technicians, supervisors, or service operations.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, maintenance programs, and troubleshooting practices.
  • Experience managing service agreement portfolios and repair work.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, revenue goals, and department performance metrics.
  • Strong customer-facing communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency with service management software and Microsoft Office.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Experience

  • Commercial mechanical contractor background.
  • Experience managing service operations in the Austin/Central Texas market.
  • Knowledge of building automation systems and HVAC controls.
  • Experience with large commercial, healthcare, industrial, data center, or institutional facilities.
  • Exposure to plumbing, piping, or broader mechanical service operations is a plus.
