Overview
An established and rapidly growing real estate investment and development firm is seeking a Head of Data Centers to lead the creation and execution of its hyperscale data center platform. This is a rare opportunity to build a mission-critical vertical from the ground up within a well-capitalized and highly entrepreneurial environment.
The firm, known for its success across industrial, healthcare, and mission-critical real estate, is now fully committed to expanding into the digital infrastructure space. With pipe already locked in, they are looking for a visionary leader to shape and scale their hyperscale data center strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Define and lead the firm's overall hyperscale data center strategy, aligning with long-term investment goals and market opportunities.
- Market Expansion: Identify and evaluate new markets and locations for hyperscale development, leveraging market intelligence and industry relationships.
- Acquisition Oversight: Lead site selection, due diligence, and acquisition efforts for land and existing assets suitable for hyperscale data center development.
- Development Execution: Oversee the full lifecycle of hyperscale projects-from concept and entitlement through design, construction, commissioning, and handover.
- Team Building: Build and lead a high-performing internal team and network of external partners, including consultants, developers, and JV stakeholders.
- JV & Capital Partner Management: Collaborate closely with financial partners to ensure alignment on strategy, execution, and performance metrics.
- Operational Readiness: Ensure that all developments are delivered to the highest standards of uptime, efficiency, and scalability, with a clear path to operational excellence.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with investment, legal, finance, and asset management teams to ensure seamless execution and long-term value creation.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Experience: 10+ years in data center development, investment, or operations, with a proven track record of delivering hyperscale projects.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to build and lead teams, manage complex stakeholder relationships, and drive strategic initiatives.
- Technical Acumen: Deep understanding of hyperscale infrastructure, site selection criteria, power and connectivity requirements, and development best practices.
- Commercial Insight: Strong financial and commercial skills, including experience with JV structures, capital deployment, and ROI analysis.
- Entrepreneurial Mindset: Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, build-from-scratch environment with high levels of autonomy and accountability.
- Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
