Job Title: Principal Engineer - Water/Wastewater

Location: Los Angeles, CA

About: We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Principal Engineer to lead complex and high-impact water and wastewater infrastructure projects across Southern California. This is a unique opportunity to join a nationally respected environmental consultancy known for its technical excellence, collaborative culture, and commitment to sustainable solutions. You'll play a pivotal role in shaping resilient water systems while mentoring a talented team of engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage municipal water and wastewater projects, including treatment and reuse systems, from preliminary design through construction.
  • Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and technical deliverables in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Oversee hydraulic modeling, treatment process evaluations, and design coordination across civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and I&C disciplines.
  • Support business development efforts, including proposal writing, interviews, and strategic pursuits.
  • Manage project risks, change orders, and financial performance to ensure profitability and compliance with internal standards.
  • Represent the firm in professional associations, technical committees, and industry events.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in wastewater and reuse design, with a strong focus on treatment plant design.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in California.
  • Proven experience managing medium to large-scale projects, including budget, schedule, and quality control.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to mentor junior staff and collaborate across disciplines.
  • Familiarity with wastewater master planning, conveyance systems, and regulatory frameworks.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience in environmental consulting engineering.
  • Master's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
  • Experience with MBR and advanced treatment technologies.
  • Proficiency in MicroStation or AutoCAD.
