Job Title: Principal Engineer - Water/Wastewater
Location: Los Angeles, CA
About: We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Principal Engineer to lead complex and high-impact water and wastewater infrastructure projects across Southern California. This is a unique opportunity to join a nationally respected environmental consultancy known for its technical excellence, collaborative culture, and commitment to sustainable solutions. You'll play a pivotal role in shaping resilient water systems while mentoring a talented team of engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage municipal water and wastewater projects, including treatment and reuse systems, from preliminary design through construction.
- Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and technical deliverables in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Oversee hydraulic modeling, treatment process evaluations, and design coordination across civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and I&C disciplines.
- Support business development efforts, including proposal writing, interviews, and strategic pursuits.
- Manage project risks, change orders, and financial performance to ensure profitability and compliance with internal standards.
- Represent the firm in professional associations, technical committees, and industry events.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Chemical Engineering.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in wastewater and reuse design, with a strong focus on treatment plant design.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in California.
- Proven experience managing medium to large-scale projects, including budget, schedule, and quality control.
- Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to mentor junior staff and collaborate across disciplines.
- Familiarity with wastewater master planning, conveyance systems, and regulatory frameworks.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 15+ years of experience in environmental consulting engineering.
- Master's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
- Experience with MBR and advanced treatment technologies.
- Proficiency in MicroStation or AutoCAD.
