A leading mining company is seeking an experienced Tailings Engineer to support the development of a major new gold project in Western Australia.
Currently in the design phase, this large-scale mine development forms part of a significant investment programme and is expected to contribute to the long-term growth of one of Australia's leading gold producers. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the design and development of critical tailings infrastructure from an early project stage.
The Opportunity
- Join a high-profile greenfield mine development project
- Work alongside a multidisciplinary technical and project team during the design phase
- Influence key decisions relating to tailings storage, water management and mine waste infrastructure
- Long-term contract opportunity with an initial 18-month duration and potential for extension
- Perth-based position with a collaborative and technically strong team
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical input into the design and development of tailings storage facilities (TSFs)
- Support feasibility, detailed design and project delivery activities
- Review and optimise tailings management strategies and infrastructure designs
- Engage closely with consultants, owners' teams and key project stakeholders
- Ensure designs align with relevant Australian and international industry standards
- Support risk assessments, governance requirements and regulatory submissions
About You
- Degree qualified in Civil, Geotechnical, Mining or related Engineering discipline
- Demonstrated experience in tailings engineering, mine waste management or TSF design
- Background in mining consultancy, owner's team or operational mining environments
- Strong understanding of tailings governance, dam safety and industry best practice
- Experience supporting large-scale resource projects from study through to execution phases
- Chartered status or equivalent professional accreditation would be advantageous
