Program Manager of Projects

Location: Remote (USA) | Up to 50% Travel Industry: Mission Critical / Data Centers / Commissioning

We're representing a leading mission-critical consulting and project delivery organization that supports some of the largest hyperscale, colocation, and advanced technology infrastructure projects across North America.

As the business continues to expand its commissioning and field services operations, they are seeking an experienced Program Manager of Projects to lead a portfolio of complex projects while developing and mentoring Project Managers across the organization.

The Opportunity

The Program Manager of Projects will oversee the successful execution of multiple concurrent commissioning and mission-critical projects, ensuring consistent delivery standards, financial performance, and resource planning across a national portfolio.

Acting as the bridge between executive leadership and project delivery teams, this individual will be responsible for driving project outcomes, supporting Project Manager development, monitoring financial performance, and ensuring clients receive a high-quality experience across all engagements.

Key Responsibilities

Project & Portfolio Leadership

• Lead execution across multiple active commissioning and mission-critical projects nationwide.
• Provide mentorship, coaching, and performance oversight to Project Managers.
• Conduct regular project reviews covering schedules, deliverables, manpower forecasts, risk management, and client satisfaction.
• Identify and resolve project issues before they escalate to executive leadership.
• Drive consistency in project planning, execution, reporting, and delivery standards.

Financial Performance & Reporting

• Maintain oversight of project financials across the portfolio.
• Review project budgets, labor utilization, profitability, invoicing, and forecasting with Project Managers.
• Identify potential budget overruns, margin erosion, schedule impacts, and change-order opportunities.
• Develop corrective action plans for underperforming projects.
• Provide executive leadership with clear and accurate portfolio-level financial reporting.

Resource Planning & Workforce Forecasting

• Consolidate manpower requirements across active projects to support resource planning efforts.
• Partner with leadership teams to identify upcoming staffing needs, workforce gaps, and capacity constraints.
• Support strategic decisions around hiring, resource allocation, and business growth initiatives.
• Ensure project demand forecasts align with available field and technical resources.

Client Relationship Management

• Build and maintain strong relationships with key client stakeholders.
• Support Project Managers with executive-level communications and project escalations.
• Conduct site visits to assess project health, strengthen client partnerships, and provide coaching to delivery teams.
• Identify opportunities for additional project work and long-term client engagement.

Business Operations & Growth Support

• Contribute to proposal development, execution planning, risk assessments, and resource forecasting for new opportunities.
• Provide operational input for strategic planning and future project pursuits.
• Support leadership with reporting and analysis regarding portfolio performance and business growth.

Ideal Background

We are interested in speaking with professionals who possess:

• 8+ years of experience within mission-critical construction, commissioning, owner's representation, engineering consulting, or project delivery environments.
• Demonstrated success leading multiple concurrent projects or programs.
• Previous experience managing and developing Project Managers or technical delivery teams.
• Strong financial acumen with experience managing project budgets, profitability, forecasting, and resource planning.
• Understanding of electrical, mechanical, and controls systems within critical environments.
• Experience working within data center, mission-critical, advanced manufacturing, industrial, healthcare, or similar technically complex sectors.
• Proficiency with project management and reporting platforms such as Smartsheet, Deltek Vantagepoint, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to interact confidently with both technical teams and executive-level clients.
