Project Control Lead
Summary:
The Project Control Lead (PCL) will be a key member of the project leadership team for a major port infrastructure upgrade. This role is responsible for leading the project controls discipline, ensuring transparent and accurate project performance reporting, supporting decision-making with best practices, and driving proactive project management. The PCL will oversee project administration, document and system management, communication, and business/office administration services to support successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the single source of truth for project performance, ensuring transparent and purposeful communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- Act as a center of excellence for project management knowledge, supporting decision-making and maintaining focus on customer value.
- Drive proactive and effective project management, reporting on leading and lagging indicators.
- Lead the setup and management of project control systems, including 4D scheduling and digital requirements management.
- Implement and maintain project management and control tools across the project team, consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
- Prepare and maintain scope, schedule, risk, and budget baselines.
- Ensure clear and consistent reporting on project progress.
- Facilitate change management, risk management, and document management processes.
- Track project progress against approved baselines, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
- Liaise with functional counterparts on project control system issues and improvements.
- Ensure adherence to project procedures, processes, and standard templates.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- Minimum 15 years of relevant professional experience, including at least 10 years in project controls for complex infrastructure projects.
- Proven accountability for project controls and accurate reporting on at least two large-scale, complex capital infrastructure projects.
- Experience working in culturally and technically diverse teams and environments.
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and spoken, with the ability to present confidently to stakeholders.
- Experience coaching or mentoring others in project management tools and techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality, accurate outputs and reports.
- Advanced project management qualification (e.g., APM PMQ, PMI PMP, or equivalent).
- Proficiency in project management platforms and systems (e.g., PMWeb, Aconex, Relatics) and scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6).
- Experience managing through influence and fostering team commitment to governance structures.
- Proactive performance management using predictive measures.
- Experience working in a matrix organization.
- Experience supervising and line managing others in project controls or project management roles.
- Strong risk management skills, including risk analysis and contingency planning.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) required.
- Professional certifications such as Chartered status or Project Management Professional (PMP) are a plus.
