Project Engineer

Position Overview:

The selected individual will provide cross-functional engineering support within a collaborative and fast-paced technical environment. This role involves hands-on process design work, project documentation, internal development, and interdepartmental collaboration. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Execute process engineering tasks related to water or wastewater treatment systems, including the design and specification of equipment and processes.

  • Prepare technical documentation including specifications, submittals, and detailed drawings for use in project execution.

  • Contribute to project planning efforts such as estimating costs, preparing bids, setting budgets, and coordinating field support.

  • Evaluate and troubleshoot existing system performance; recommend practical improvements and technical solutions.

  • Coordinate with internal teams, external vendors, and clients to develop and refine engineered solutions.

  • Participate in site visits and field assignments during system commissioning or product development activities (less than 10% travel).

  • Contribute to internal development efforts such as process optimization, research and development, and tooling enhancements.

  • Mentor junior engineers on design, documentation, and project execution tasks.

  • Provide technical leadership and support throughout the project lifecycle, from proposal development to post-installation support.

This role serves as a core resource for both operations and sales, supporting engineering activities throughout the organization. The successful candidate will act as a subject matter expert for key technologies and contribute to continuous improvement across teams.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental, civil, or a related engineering discipline.

  • 5+ years of experience in a relevant engineering or process design role.

  • Direct experience with wastewater process systems; familiarity with lagoon-based systems is a plus.

  • Proficient with design and documentation tools including Microsoft Excel and AutoCAD.

  • Strong background in managing technical documentation and project data.

  • Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills.

  • Proven ability to contribute to engineering projects from initial concept through to execution and support.

  • Comfortable working cross-functionally to enhance efficiency and operational performance.

  • A collaborative mindset with a focus on innovation and growth.

  • Solid understanding of mechanical systems, particularly components like blowers, instrumentation, and control systems commonly used in treatment processes.
