Location: Salt Lake City & Provo, UT
Compensation: $120,000 - $160,000+ (DOE)
Experience Required: 7-10+ years managing heavy civil projects
Travel: Limited regional travel; primarily home each night
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Project Manager to lead complex infrastructure projects across the Wasatch Front. This role is responsible for full project lifecycle management - from estimating support and preconstruction planning to field execution, financial oversight, and project closeout.
Ideal candidates have a strong background in highways, bridges, utilities, concrete, grading/earthwork, wastewater/water treatment, and public infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all project phases: planning, scheduling, budgeting, and execution
- Manage cost controls, forecasting, invoicing, and financial reporting
- Lead project meetings with owners, engineers, inspectors, and field teams
- Collaborate with superintendents on sequencing, production goals, and daily operations
- Review contracts, subcontracts, scopes, RFIs, and change orders
- Ensure quality control across utilities, structures, concrete, and civil works
- Maintain project documentation, logs, and correspondence
- Support estimating and pre‑construction reviews when needed
- Manage subcontractors and build strong relationships with clients and agencies
- Drive safety culture and ensure compliance with all jobsite requirements
Qualifications
- 7-10+ years as a Project Manager on heavy civil projects
- Proven success managing DOT, municipal, and large private-sector infrastructure
- Strong understanding of utilities, structures, earthwork, paving, and civil systems
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent scopes and fast‑moving schedules
- Proficiency with project management tools (Procore, HCSS, Bluebeam, or similar)
- Excellent communication, leadership, and negotiation skills
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred (experience can substitute)
- Valid driver's license; regional site visits required
