Overview
Our client, a highly respected and expanding structural engineering consultancy, is seeking an experienced Structural Project Manager to join its growing team. This is an opportunity for a licensed engineer to take ownership of complex projects, lead client relationships, and play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality structural solutions across a broad range of building sectors.
The successful candidate will oversee projects from initial planning through construction completion, while mentoring engineers, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and helping drive the continued growth of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of structural engineering projects from proposal through final completion.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, managing relationships and ensuring successful project outcomes.
- Coordinate with architects, contractors, consultants, and internal design teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, resource allocation, and overall performance.
- Review and approve structural calculations, engineering reports, technical specifications, and construction documentation.
- Oversee the development of structural designs for new construction, renovations, adaptive reuse projects, and structural rehabilitation work.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineering and drafting staff.
- Conduct project reviews to maintain quality, compliance, and adherence to applicable codes and standards.
- Support construction administration activities, including submittal reviews, RFIs, site visits, and contractor coordination.
- Contribute to business development efforts through client engagement, proposal preparation, and identification of new opportunities.
Skills & Experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) licence required; SE licence preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; advanced degree advantageous.
- Approximately 7-15+ years of structural engineering experience, including project leadership responsibilities.
- Proven experience managing commercial, institutional, industrial, mixed-use, healthcare, education, or mission-critical projects.
- Strong understanding of structural systems and materials, including steel, concrete, masonry, and existing building evaluations.
- Proficiency with industry-standard analysis and design software such as ETABS, RAM, RISA, SAFE, SAP2000, Enercalc, Revit, or similar tools.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers and leading technical teams.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to balance technical excellence, client expectations, and project profitability.
