Project Manager
Our client is seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Project Manager to join their team in Vallejo, California. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated construction professional to take ownership of challenging and rewarding infrastructure projects throughout the Bay Area and Northern California.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record managing heavy road, highway paving, grading, and civil construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. They are looking for a leader who can successfully oversee project budgets, schedules, subcontractors, field operations, client relationships, and overall project performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage multiple heavy civil construction projects from award through completion.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and cost controls.
- Coordinate with owners, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel.
- Lead project meetings and provide regular updates to clients and company leadership.
- Review contracts, drawings, specifications, change orders, and submittals.
- Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards.
- Work closely with Superintendents to coordinate field activities and production goals.
- Manage procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
- Track project financial performance and prepare monthly cost reports.
- Assist with estimating, bidding, and project pursuits as needed.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager on heavy civil construction projects.
- Demonstrated experience managing road, highway paving, and grading projects is required.
- Strong understanding of heavy civil construction methods, scheduling, and project controls.
- Experience managing project budgets, change orders, and contract administration.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required.
Preferred Experience
- Caltrans project experience.
- Asphalt paving, earthwork, grading, roadway reconstruction, or highway improvement projects.
- Public works and municipal infrastructure projects.
- Experience working with self-perform crews and heavy equipment operations.
