Project Manager

Our client is seeking an experienced Heavy Civil Project Manager to join their team in Vallejo, California. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated construction professional to take ownership of challenging and rewarding infrastructure projects throughout the Bay Area and Northern California.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record managing heavy road, highway paving, grading, and civil construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. They are looking for a leader who can successfully oversee project budgets, schedules, subcontractors, field operations, client relationships, and overall project performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage multiple heavy civil construction projects from award through completion.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and cost controls.
• Coordinate with owners, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel.
• Lead project meetings and provide regular updates to clients and company leadership.
• Review contracts, drawings, specifications, change orders, and submittals.
• Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards.
• Work closely with Superintendents to coordinate field activities and production goals.
• Manage procurement of materials, equipment, and subcontractors.
• Track project financial performance and prepare monthly cost reports.
• Assist with estimating, bidding, and project pursuits as needed.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager on heavy civil construction projects.
• Demonstrated experience managing road, highway paving, and grading projects is required.
• Strong understanding of heavy civil construction methods, scheduling, and project controls.
• Experience managing project budgets, change orders, and contract administration.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and construction management software.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required.

Preferred Experience

• Caltrans project experience.
• Asphalt paving, earthwork, grading, roadway reconstruction, or highway improvement projects.
• Public works and municipal infrastructure projects.
• Experience working with self-perform crews and heavy equipment operations.
