Environmental Project Manager

A growing environmental consulting firm is seeking an Environmental Project Manager to lead a diverse portfolio of site investigation, remediation, due diligence, and compliance projects throughout the region.

This position is ideal for an experienced environmental professional who enjoys managing projects from inception through closure while serving as a technical resource for clients, regulators, and internal project teams. The successful candidate will have strong project management capabilities, technical expertise, and a thorough understanding of environmental investigation and remediation programs.

Responsibilities

Project Management

• Manage environmental projects ranging from due diligence and site assessments to complex remediation efforts

• Develop project scopes, work plans, schedules, budgets, and staffing plans

• Coordinate internal staff, subcontractors, laboratories, and field personnel

• Ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in compliance with regulatory requirements

• Maintain strong client relationships and serve as a primary point of contact throughout project execution

Site Investigation & Assessment

• Oversee Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments

• Design and implement soil, groundwater, soil vapor, and environmental sampling programs

• Direct drilling activities, monitoring well installations, and subsurface investigations

• Evaluate environmental conditions and determine appropriate investigation strategies

• Interpret geologic, hydrogeologic, and analytical data to support project objectives

Remediation & Regulatory Compliance

• Manage remediation projects from investigation through regulatory closure

• Develop corrective action strategies and remediation plans

• Coordinate with state regulatory agencies and stakeholders throughout the remediation process

• Support projects involving underground storage tanks, petroleum releases, hazardous materials, and redevelopment sites

• Evaluate remediation alternatives and recommend cost-effective solutions

Technical Leadership

• Prepare and review technical reports, work plans, proposals, and regulatory submittals

• Interpret environmental data and apply regulatory standards to support project recommendations

• Mentor junior scientists, geologists, and environmental professionals

• Provide quality control and technical oversight across project deliverables

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline

• 8+ years of environmental consulting experience

• Strong background in Phase I ESAs, Phase II investigations, site characterization, and remediation

• Experience managing environmental projects, budgets, schedules, and multidisciplinary teams

• Familiarity with state remediation and regulatory closure programs

• Strong technical writing and report preparation skills

• Experience working directly with regulatory agencies and project stakeholders

• Professional licensure or certification is preferred

• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
