A well-established environmental consulting firm is seeking a Senior Project Manager - Environmental Remediation to lead complex investigation, remediation, regulatory closure, and environmental liability projects throughout the region.
This role is designed for a senior environmental professional with extensive experience managing high-profile projects, leading technical teams, interfacing with regulators, and advising clients on environmental risk, remediation strategies, and site redevelopment opportunities. The successful candidate will serve as both a technical leader and trusted client advisor while overseeing projects from due diligence through regulatory closure.
Responsibilities
Project & Client Leadership
Lead complex environmental projects valued at $1M+ from inception through completion
Serve as the primary advisor for key clients, attorneys, developers, and stakeholders
Develop project strategies, budgets, schedules, and staffing plans
Manage multidisciplinary project teams, subcontractors, and technical specialists
Prepare proposals, scopes of work, and cost estimates for large-scale projects
Present technical findings, liability considerations, and remediation options to clients
Site Investigation & Assessment
Oversee complex Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments
Design and manage soil, groundwater, soil vapor, and hydrogeologic investigation programs
Evaluate contaminant fate and transport, site conceptual models, and exposure pathways
Direct drilling programs, monitoring well installations, aquifer testing, and subsurface investigations
Interpret geological, hydrogeological, and environmental analytical data
Remediation & Regulatory Strategy
Develop and implement remediation strategies for contaminated properties
Evaluate remedial technologies and risk management alternatives
Lead projects through regulatory review and closure processes
Manage remediation design, implementation, and performance monitoring
Coordinate directly with regulatory agencies regarding investigation findings, corrective actions, and closure strategies
Negotiate regulatory agreements and provide strategic guidance on liability management
Technical Leadership
Review technical reports, work plans, risk assessments, and remediation documents
Ensure technical accuracy, quality control, and regulatory compliance
Provide mentorship and oversight to project managers, geologists, scientists, and engineers
Support business development efforts and strategic growth initiatives
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline
15+ years of environmental consulting experience
Extensive experience with site investigation, remediation, and regulatory closure programs
Strong background managing large environmental projects and multidisciplinary teams
Expertise in environmental liability assessment and remediation strategy development
Experience working directly with regulatory agencies and legal stakeholders
Proven success managing project financials, schedules, and client relationships
Professional licensure or certification preferred (PG, PE, CHMM, or similar)
Excellent communication, leadership, and technical writing skills
