Project Surveyor | Lathan, NY

Our client is seeking an experienced Project Surveyor to join its Latham office. This role offers the opportunity to manage a variety of land surveying projects while working alongside engineering, architectural, and environmental professionals throughout the Northeast. The successful candidate will take ownership of project execution, client coordination, technical oversight, and staff leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary survey professional responsible for project quality, technical accuracy, and successful project delivery.
  • Prepare fee proposals, oversee project budgets, negotiate agreements, and manage both financial and technical project requirements.
  • Develop detailed project scopes tailored to client objectives and project needs.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and direction to survey personnel to maintain productivity and project performance.
  • Act as a technical resource on surveying matters for multidisciplinary teams.
  • Review and interpret deeds, maps, site plans, construction drawings, specifications, and other project-related documents.
  • Oversee and perform boundary surveys, topographic surveys, existing conditions surveys, and construction layout services.
  • Conduct research through municipal agencies, public records, utility entities, and other sources to obtain information necessary for project completion.
  • Coordinate and direct field crews while ensuring adherence to project schedules and quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Surveying Technology or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • Minimum of seven years of progressively responsible surveying experience, including project management responsibilities.
  • Active New York State Professional Land Surveyor (P.L.S.) license required.
  • Strong understanding of boundary determination, land development surveys, and surveying principles.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of field and office survey procedures, data collection, and project processing.
  • Proficiency operating survey technology, including GPS systems, robotic total stations, and conventional total station equipment.
  • Working knowledge of New York boundary law and its application in boundary survey work.
  • Valid driver's license required.
