Senior Civil Engineer (Transportation)
About the Opportunity
A well-established employee-focused engineering consulting firm is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to support the planning, design, and delivery of transportation and infrastructure projects. This individual will work on a variety of public and private sector projects, contributing to roadway, drainage, site development, and transportation improvements while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, compile, and analyze data from surveys, plans, GIS information, utility records, geotechnical reports, and field investigations to support project development and design.
- Prepare engineering designs, calculations, plans, specifications, and construction documents for civil and transportation infrastructure projects.
- Assist with site evaluations, drainage analysis, grading design, pavement design, and utility coordination.
- Support project planning, concept development, and design efforts while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, standards, and client requirements.
- Collaborate with engineers, planners, and technical staff to deliver projects on schedule and within budget.
- Prepare technical reports, studies, cost estimates, design memorandums, exhibits, and presentations.
- Conduct engineering studies and evaluate existing infrastructure conditions to recommend practical and cost-effective solutions.
- Assist with project development, scope definition, and proposal preparation.
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies, municipalities, clients, and project stakeholders throughout project delivery.
- Participate in quality control reviews and ensure work products meet company and industry standards.
- Support construction administration activities, including responding to contractor questions and reviewing submittals as needed.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- 4-7 years of civil engineering experience, preferably focused on transportation, roadway, municipal, or infrastructure projects.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Experience with infrastructure planning, design, and construction coordination.
- Understanding of engineering principles, permitting requirements, design standards, and applicable regulations.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with clients, agencies, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong technical writing, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience preparing engineering reports, design calculations, and construction documentation.
