About the Opportunity:

An established forensic and structural engineering consultancy is seeking a Forensic Engineer with 3-5 years of experience to support investigations into property damage, structural concerns, and construction-related claims. The firm operates as investigators, expert witnesses, and problem-solvers - delivering clear, defensible engineering opinions in situations that are often time-sensitive and high-pressure.This role offers exposure to a wide range of forensic investigations and structural assignments, with an emphasis on professionalism, approachability, and technical excellence. Fast turnaround is expected, but quality and defensibility are never compromised.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform forensic engineering investigations related to wind, water, fire, hail, and impact events (e.g. vehicle impacts, falling trees).
  • Identify the cause, extent, and scope of structural damage, providing clear engineering conclusions and recommendations.
  • Conduct site inspections and interact professionally with clients during potentially stressful situations.
  • Prepare thorough, well-documented forensic reports that stand up to technical and legal scrutiny.
  • Provide expert testimony and defend engineering opinions when claims or cases proceed to litigation.
  • Complete structural assessments for repair and renovation projects, including damage evaluation and development of repair drawings.
  • Produce plans, details, and specifications for new residential, commercial, and multi-family construction as required.
  • Analyze construction defects, including review of drawings and documents, identification of deficiencies, scoping of damage, and estimation of repair costs.
  • Evaluate building envelope performance and code compliance issues.
Required Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of experience in forensic engineering, structural engineering, or property damage investigations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Strong technical writing skills with experience producing clear, defensible reports.
  • Willingness to travel locally and regionally for site investigations.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments while meeting deadlines without sacrificing quality.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or active progress toward licensure.
  • Experience supporting insurance claims, litigation matters, or expert witness services.
  • Familiarity with residential, commercial, and multi-family structures.
  • Experience with repair design and construction documentation.
