Renewable Energy Project Engineer
Summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Project Engineer to join our Energy Group. This role focuses on the design and delivery of utility and renewable energy infrastructure projects, including pipelines, transmission lines, solar and wind farms, substations, and battery energy storage systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage civil engineering design tasks for energy infrastructure projects
- Prepare design plans, drawings, specifications, reports, and cost estimates
- Provide technical support during construction, including site visits and design clarifications
- Develop stormwater management designs and SWPPPs in compliance with regulatory requirements
- Ensure designs meet applicable codes, standards, and permitting requirements
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including progress reports and budgets
- Support project planning by aligning engineering tasks with scope, schedule, and budget
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to achieve project goals
- Mentor junior engineers and provide quality control and technical guidance
- Assist project managers with schedules, documentation, and client presentations
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field
- 7+ years of civil engineering experience, preferably in utility or renewable energy sectors
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain licensure
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D; experience with MicroStation is a plus
- Experience with utility projects (e.g., National Grid, National Fuel Gas)
- Familiarity with local zoning, DOT permitting, and NYS SEQR processes
- Knowledge of NYS Article VII/VIII requirements (preferred)
- Strong understanding of civil design and construction bid package preparation
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
