Security Designer

The Role

We are looking for a highly skilled Enterprise Security Systems Designer to support mission‑critical environments, with a strong emphasis on large-scale and hyperscale data centers. This fully remote role is ideal for someone who enjoys owning complex security designs end‑to‑end while collaborating closely with senior consultants, fellow designers, and BIM professionals to deliver high-impact results.

What You'll Be Doing

• Lead the design of enterprise physical security systems, including video surveillance, access control, intrusion detection, and perimeter security solutions (gates, fencing, barriers).
• Develop security architectures using platforms such as Milestone, Lenel, and similar systems; integrate Perimeter Intrusion Detection Systems (PIDS) including FLIR thermal technologies, ground radar, and fence‑based detection solutions (e.g., Southwest Microwave).
• Produce and maintain Division 28 specifications, ensuring high quality, accuracy, and alignment between drawings and specifications.
• Create construction‑ready documentation in Revit, including annotated plans, details, single‑line diagrams, device schedules, and full specification packages.
• Support projects through the full lifecycle, from design development and basis‑of‑design narratives through site visits, submittal and RFI review, construction administration, and close‑out.
• Collaborate with project managers, BIM staff, architects, contractors, subject matter experts, and clients to deliver well‑coordinated security solutions.
• Provide mentorship to junior team members and contribute to the ongoing improvement of technical standards and workflows.
• Stay current on emerging security technologies, tools, and industry best practices through continued learning and professional development.

What We're Looking For

• Significant hands‑on experience designing enterprise electronic security systems, ideally within data center or other mission‑critical environments.
• Strong practical knowledge of platforms such as Milestone, Lenel, or equivalent systems, and experience with advanced PIDS technologies (e.g., FLIR, ground radar, fence detection).
• Revit proficiency is required; experience with AutoCAD and Navisworks is beneficial.
• Demonstrated ability to produce high‑quality construction documentation and coordinate across multiple disciplines.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively across internal teams and client stakeholders.
