Senior Automation Engineer (DCS / SIS)
A growing systems integration business is looking to add a Senior Automation Engineer to its Houston team. This is an opportunity to work on complex process automation projects across industries including oil & gas, chemicals, energy, and manufacturing.
The role will have a strong focus on DeltaV systems, with involvement across the full project lifecycle including design, configuration, testing, commissioning, and client support.
Responsibilities
* Configure, develop, and support Emerson DeltaV DCS and SIS systems
* Design and implement process control strategies, graphics, alarms, and HMI applications
* Develop functional design specifications, control narratives, and test documentation
* Perform FATs, SATs, loop checks, and site commissioning activities
* Configure and troubleshoot safety instrumented systems (SIS)
* Work directly with clients to gather requirements and provide technical solutions
* Support migrations, upgrades, and modernization projects
* Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership on projects
Requirements
* 5+ years of automation or process control engineering experience
* Hands-on experience with Emerson DeltaV DCS is required
* Experience with SIS configuration and implementation
* Background working within process industries such as oil & gas, chemicals, refining, power, or manufacturing
* Experience with one or more additional control platforms such as:
- Honeywell Experion
- Honeywell TDC 3000
- Siemens PCS 7
- Allen-Bradley ControlLogix / PlantPAx
- ABB 800xA
- Yokogawa CENTUM * PLC programming experience is highly desirable
* Experience with field commissioning and startup activities
* Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
* Ability to travel to client sites as required
