The Opportunity
On behalf of a respected engineering and building science consultancy, we are recruiting a Senior Building Envelope Consultant to support and lead projects across the Southeast. This is a senior technical role suited to an experienced professional who enjoys client interaction, technical leadership, and mentoring junior staff.
The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in building enclosure systems and must hold a Professional Engineer (PE) license or be a Registered Architect (RA).
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, evaluation, and construction administration of building envelope systems including roofing, waterproofing, exterior wall assemblies, façades, and fenestration
- Provide technical oversight from early design phases through construction completion, ensuring performance, durability, and code compliance
- Perform forensic investigations, condition assessments, and enclosure performance testing related to water intrusion, air leakage, and thermal behavior
- Prepare and review technical reports, details, specifications, and repair documents for both new construction and existing buildings
- Review contractor submittals, shop drawings, mock‑ups, and on‑site installations, providing quality assurance and construction observation services
- Act as a primary technical contact for clients, supporting proposals, scopes of work, and project delivery
- Mentor and support junior consultants and engineers, contributing to team development and technical excellence
Required Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license OR Registered Architect (RA)
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline
- Approximately 8+ years of progressive experience in building envelope consulting, façade engineering, or building science
- Strong technical knowledge of roofing, waterproofing, exterior wall systems, and fenestration assemblies
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining technical quality, budgets, and schedules
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing client‑facing reports
Preferred Experience
- IIBEC credentials
- Experience with forensic investigations, remediation design, or dispute resolution support
- Familiarity with U.S. building codes, industry standards, and enclosure performance testing
- Prior experience mentoring junior staff or supporting office growth initiatives
