An established, employee-focused engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Building Envelope Consultant to join its growing team. This position offers the opportunity to lead technically challenging projects involving the assessment, rehabilitation, and design of building enclosure systems across a diverse portfolio of commercial, institutional, and residential structures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and deliver building enclosure and façade projects from investigation through design and construction support.
  • Conduct site assessments, condition surveys, and forensic evaluations of existing building systems.
  • Diagnose performance issues involving roofing, waterproofing, façades, cladding systems, windows, curtain walls, and below-grade assemblies.
  • Develop repair and rehabilitation solutions for aging or underperforming building envelope components.
  • Perform field testing and water infiltration investigations to determine sources of moisture-related issues.
  • Prepare technical reports, repair documents, specifications, and construction drawings.
  • Collaborate closely with architects, contractors, ownership groups, and project stakeholders throughout all project phases.
  • Provide construction phase services, including site observations, contractor support, and quality assurance reviews.
  • Review project documentation and provide technical guidance during design and peer review processes.
  • Support litigation, expert witness, or dispute resolution assignments when required.
  • Mentor junior staff, share technical knowledge, and contribute to team development initiatives.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships while supporting business development opportunities.

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Architecture, or a related discipline. Advanced qualifications are advantageous.
  • Minimum of 8 years' experience within building envelope consulting, forensic engineering, architecture, or construction-related services.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Registered Architect (RA) licence required.
  • Demonstrated experience investigating and repairing building enclosure systems.
  • Strong understanding of roofing, waterproofing, façades, cladding systems, glazing, curtain walls, and moisture management principles.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, budgets, schedules, and client expectations simultaneously.
  • Excellent report writing, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Comfortable conducting fieldwork, including accessing rooftops, swing stages, ladders, and elevated structures.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to balance technical and client-facing responsibilities.
  • Experience with historic structures, façade restoration, rope access, or public presentations would be beneficial.
