A respected civil engineering consulting firm is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join its growing Water Resources team in West Sacramento, California. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys leading projects, mentoring staff, and working on critical flood control, agricultural water supply, drainage, and environmental restoration initiatives throughout Northern California.
The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering solutions for water agencies, reclamation districts, public entities, and agricultural stakeholders across some of California's most important water resource regions.
What You'll Be Working On
- Flood control and flood risk reduction projects
- Agricultural water supply and drainage systems
- Water resources infrastructure improvements
- Environmental restoration projects
- Engineering studies and technical analyses
- Design and preparation of construction documents
- Project management and client relationship development
- Funding support and grant-related project assistance
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage water resources and flood management projects
- Perform engineering studies, analyses, and technical evaluations
- Prepare construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, and supporting calculations
- Develop technical memoranda, reports, and client presentations
- Coordinate with public agencies, regulatory stakeholders, and project partners
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineering staff
- Support business development and long-term client relationships
- Represent projects and technical findings in meetings with clients and stakeholders
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field
- California Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain within six months
- 8+ years of civil or water resources engineering experience
- Strong understanding of flood control, drainage, and water resources systems
- Experience preparing engineering reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred
- Project management experience
- Experience working with flood control agencies, reclamation districts, irrigation districts, or public agencies
- Background in agricultural engineering or water infrastructure
- Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams
- Strong client-facing and stakeholder coordination skills
