Role Overview
The Senior Electrical Project Engineer will oversee electrical systems design for renewable energy projects from development through handover to operations. This role involves managing balance-of-plant electrical design, ensuring grid compliance, and supporting construction and commissioning activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Design balance-of-plant electrical packages from development through IFC (Issued for Construction).
- Provide engineering support during pre-construction, construction, and turnover to operations.
- Ensure compliance with grid codes and interconnection requirements.
- Specify and evaluate major electrical equipment for balance-of-plant systems.
- Perform power system modeling and studies.
- Coordinate engineering topics during construction and manage third-party engineering consultants.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support NERC compliance documentation and studies.
- Incorporate health, safety, and environmental standards into all designs.
- Contribute to the development of electrical engineering standards, processes, and procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program; advanced degrees may reduce experience requirements.
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience in electrical engineering.
- Expertise in transmission design, substation design, collection/distribution systems, major equipment specification, power system studies, and protection/control systems.
- Experience in renewable generation (wind, solar PV, BESS) preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to manage relationships and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Teams.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks independently and collaboratively.
Work Environment
- Office-based role with occasional travel to other offices and field locations.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. (visa sponsorship not available).
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $150,000 - $180,000
- Incentives: Short-term bonus eligibility
