Role Overview

The Senior Electrical Project Engineer will oversee electrical systems design for renewable energy projects from development through handover to operations. This role involves managing balance-of-plant electrical design, ensuring grid compliance, and supporting construction and commissioning activities.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design balance-of-plant electrical packages from development through IFC (Issued for Construction).
  • Provide engineering support during pre-construction, construction, and turnover to operations.
  • Ensure compliance with grid codes and interconnection requirements.
  • Specify and evaluate major electrical equipment for balance-of-plant systems.
  • Perform power system modeling and studies.
  • Coordinate engineering topics during construction and manage third-party engineering consultants.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and subject matter experts throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support NERC compliance documentation and studies.
  • Incorporate health, safety, and environmental standards into all designs.
  • Contribute to the development of electrical engineering standards, processes, and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program; advanced degrees may reduce experience requirements.
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in electrical engineering.
  • Expertise in transmission design, substation design, collection/distribution systems, major equipment specification, power system studies, and protection/control systems.
  • Experience in renewable generation (wind, solar PV, BESS) preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to manage relationships and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Teams.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks independently and collaboratively.

Work Environment

  • Office-based role with occasional travel to other offices and field locations.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. (visa sponsorship not available).

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $150,000 - $180,000
  • Incentives: Short-term bonus eligibility
