Senior Energy Market Analyst
Overview:
We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Senior Energy Market Analyst to join a growing Market Operations team. This role supports the integration of renewable energy assets into various Independent System Operator (ISO) markets, ensuring compliance, performance, and strategic alignment with business goals. The ideal candidate will bring analytical rigor, cross-functional collaboration skills, and a passion for clean energy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate the onboarding and market integration of new renewable energy projects across multiple ISO markets.
- Interpret and communicate ISO protocols and regulatory changes to internal teams, ensuring operational alignment.
- Collaborate with engineering, asset management, and compliance teams to resolve market-related issues.
- Conduct performance analysis and generate reports to support operational decision-making.
- Coordinate and oversee performance testing and validation for renewable assets entering or operating in ISO markets.
- Review and validate test data prior to submission to regulatory bodies.
- Develop and refine internal workflows to enhance team efficiency and market responsiveness.
- Monitor and summarize updates to ISO market rules, tariffs, and operational requirements.
- Act as a resource for internal teams on ISO market operations, particularly in PJM, MISO, and NYISO.
- Lead or contribute to cross-functional initiatives aimed at improving market integration and asset performance.
- Provide mentorship and training to junior team members.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Energy Systems, Economics, or a related technical field.
- 3+ years of experience in energy markets, renewable energy operations, or regulatory compliance.
- Familiarity with PJM, MISO, NYISO, or other North American ISO/RTO markets.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Python).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across departments.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience leading projects or initiatives with cross-functional teams.
- Self-motivated and adaptable, with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Comfortable working in a hybrid or office-based setting with occasional travel to field sites or partner offices.
