Senior Estimator - Water / Wastewater Construction
Location: Tampa, FL
A well-established general contractor with a strong presence in Florida is seeking a Senior Estimator to support complex water and wastewater infrastructure projects throughout the region. This role is ideal for an experienced estimating professional with a deep understanding of treatment plant construction and heavy civil work.
Position Overview
The Senior Estimator will play a key role in preconstruction, leading estimates for water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, lift stations, and related infrastructure projects. This individual will work closely with preconstruction, operations, and leadership to develop accurate, competitive bids and support successful project execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and lead detailed cost estimates for water and wastewater treatment plant projects
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and project requirements to develop accurate budgets and bids
- Solicit, evaluate, and level subcontractor and supplier proposals
- Develop conceptual, schematic, design-development, and GMP estimates
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, job walks, and design coordination meetings
- Identify risks, opportunities, and value-engineering options during preconstruction
- Collaborate with project managers and operations teams during handoff
- Support business development efforts with pricing strategies and historical cost data
- Maintain estimating databases, cost models, and bid documentation
Qualifications
- 7+ years of construction estimating experience, preferably with a general contractor
- Strong background in water/wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, lift stations, or utilities
- Proficiency in estimating software and takeoff tools (e.g., HCSS, Bluebeam, OST, Excel)
- Ability to estimate self-performed work and subcontracted scopes
- Solid understanding of means and methods, schedules, and construction logistics
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
