A well-established multidisciplinary engineering consulting firm is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join its growing Houston team. The organization provides geotechnical engineering, construction materials testing, environmental consulting, and special inspection services across a diverse portfolio of transportation, infrastructure, commercial, industrial, and public-sector projects throughout Texas.
This position offers an opportunity to play a key role in project delivery, client development, technical leadership, and the continued growth of the geotechnical practice.
Position Overview
The Senior Geotechnical Engineer will be responsible for managing geotechnical projects from proposal through completion while providing technical oversight, client support, and mentorship to junior staff. The successful candidate will work closely with clients, contractors, and internal teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions across a wide variety of project types.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage geotechnical engineering projects throughout all phases of delivery.
- Develop project scopes, proposals, schedules, and budgets.
- Oversee subsurface investigations, drilling programs, and field exploration activities.
- Perform and review geotechnical analyses and engineering recommendations.
- Prepare and review geotechnical reports, proposals, and technical documentation.
- Provide recommendations for foundations, earthwork, pavements, retaining structures, and site development.
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
- Monitor project performance, schedules, budgets, and profitability.
- Mentor and support the development of junior engineers and technical staff.
- Participate in client meetings, proposal development, and business development initiatives.
- Maintain quality control standards and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and industry standards.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas, or the ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity.
- 8+ years of geotechnical engineering experience.
- Proven experience managing geotechnical projects from investigation through reporting and design recommendations.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills.
- Experience managing project budgets, schedules, and client relationships.
Preferred
- Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering.
- Experience supporting transportation, municipal, commercial, industrial, or infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with Houston-area subsurface conditions and geotechnical challenges.
- Experience mentoring engineering teams.
- Business development and client-facing experience.
