A nationally recognized MEP consulting firm is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join its Orlando office. This full-time, permanent role is ideal for a seasoned professional with 10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering, particularly within healthcare and higher education environments. Role Overview
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will lead mechanical design efforts for complex institutional projects, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated and innovative solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems for healthcare and university buildings.
- Develop construction documents, specifications, and system layouts using Revit and AutoCAD.
- Perform load calculations, equipment selection, and energy modeling.
- Coordinate with architects, electrical engineers, and other disciplines to ensure cohesive design.
- Conduct site visits and inspections to verify installation and compliance.
- Ensure adherence to applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
- Participate in project planning, budgeting, and client presentations.
- Provide mentorship and technical leadership to junior staff.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (required).
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical design for buildings.
- Proven experience in higher education and/or healthcare projects.
- PE licensure strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and energy modeling tools.
- Strong understanding of ASHRAE standards, building codes, and sustainability principles.
