Senior Project Engineering Manager - Power Generation
Our client is seeking a Senior Project Engineering Manager to lead the execution of complex power generation projects across engineering and EPC delivery programs. This individual will oversee multidisciplinary engineering teams, manage project performance, and serve as a key point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle.
Position Overview
In this role, you will:
- Lead teams of engineers, designers, and technical specialists across multiple disciplines.
- Manage a diverse portfolio of power generation projects from conceptual development through detailed design and execution.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to established quality standards.
- Collaborate with clients, support proposal development, and contribute to business growth initiatives.
Project Focus Areas
Projects may include:
- Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED/FEL) studies
- Detailed engineering for EPC, EPCM, and engineering consulting engagements
- Plant modifications, upgrades, and operational support for existing facilities
- Utility-scale and industrial power generation projects
- Engineering support during construction and commissioning activities
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery
- Provide leadership and technical direction for large, complex power generation projects.
- Develop project execution plans, budgets, schedules, and staffing strategies.
- Coordinate activities across multiple engineering disciplines to ensure successful project completion.
- Review and approve engineering deliverables while maintaining quality and technical excellence.
- Perform technical evaluations, equipment selection, and engineering analyses as required.
- Serve as the engineering lead and responsible technical authority on assigned projects.
Client & Business Development
- Build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Understand client objectives and translate project requirements into effective engineering solutions.
- Support proposals, project pursuits, and engineering estimates.
- Assist with managing scope changes and project modifications in coordination with project leadership.
Technical Leadership
- Guide multidisciplinary teams through complex engineering challenges.
- Provide technical oversight for power generation facility design and execution.
- Drive project solutions that align with client requirements and business objectives.
People Leadership
- Mentor and develop engineering staff.
- Review technical work produced by team members.
- Participate in hiring, performance management, and team development activities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred.
- Experience leading engineering, EPC, or consulting projects within the U.S. power generation market.
- Strong background supporting simple-cycle and combined-cycle gas turbine facilities.
- Comprehensive understanding of the full project lifecycle, from concept development through commissioning.
- Familiarity with procurement processes, contract administration, and project controls.
- Experience preparing engineering estimates and supporting proposal efforts.
- Excellent communication skills with a client-focused approach.
Work Environment
