Senior Project Manager

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join a growing heavy civil construction team based in Costa Mesa, CA. This leadership role will oversee the successful delivery of complex infrastructure projects involving wet utilities, dry utilities, and civil construction improvements throughout Southern California.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background managing all phases of construction projects from preconstruction through closeout, with the ability to lead project teams, maintain client relationships, and drive projects safely, on schedule, and within budget.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple utility and civil construction projects simultaneously.
  • Lead project planning, scheduling, budgeting, forecasting, and execution.
  • Oversee project teams including Project Engineers, Assistant Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, and field personnel.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with owners, agencies, municipalities, utility providers, and project stakeholders.
  • Negotiate subcontracts, vendor agreements, and change orders.
  • Monitor project financials, cost controls, productivity, and risk management.
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements, safety standards, and quality expectations.
  • Participate in project pursuits, estimating reviews, and strategic planning efforts.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to project staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Project Manager managing both wet utility and dry utility construction projects.
  • Proven experience overseeing projects involving underground water, sewer, storm drain, dry utility, electrical, telecommunications, or joint trench infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of project controls, scheduling, budgeting, contract administration, and change management.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and client management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bridge construction experience is a plus.
  • Caltrans project experience is a plus.
  • Experience with public works and design-build delivery methods.
  • Knowledge of Southern California utility agencies and infrastructure markets.
