About Your Manager You'll report directly to the Director of the Land Development Department. You'll work alongside an interdisciplinary team of civil engineers, project planners, and CAD designers. Position Overview This is a great opportunity for a land development engineer or senior designer who wants to lead technical design on site development projects. You'll guide the design team through utility design, grading, stormwater management, and sustainable site design. You'll also manage permitting and agency approvals. The role is client-facing: you'll work closely with owners and developers, architects, landscape architects, and contractors from concept through construction. The position is full-time and hybrid, with three days a week in the office once your probation period is complete. [sda-eng.com]

Role & Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical design of land development projects for an interdisciplinary team
  • Prepare project drawings, calculations, and specifications, and direct others in producing them
  • Complete engineering analysis, design, calculations, and reports
  • Evaluate land use and zoning requirements, and guide projects through site plan approval
  • Prepare permit applications and take projects through agency review to approval
  • Make occasional site visits during construction to check progress and quality
  • Work with owners, developers, architects, landscape architects, engineering trades, and contractors
  • Attend client meetings and travel for projects as needed

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of civil engineering experience, including at least 3 years designing land development projects
  • Strong experience with utility design, grading plans, and stormwater management design
  • Knowledge of design and permitting requirements for development projects
  • Familiarity with zoning ordinances and site plan approval processes
  • Proficiency in Civil 3D and Microsoft Office
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred but not required
  • K-12 site design experience a plus
