About the Opportunity
An established environmental consulting firm is seeking a Senior Remediation Scientist to join its growing Massachusetts team. This position is ideal for an experienced environmental professional who enjoys managing complex remediation projects, mentoring staff, and serving as a technical resource for clients and project teams.
The successful candidate will play a key role in managing site investigation and remediation projects across Massachusetts while supporting business growth and maintaining strong client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage environmental investigation and remediation projects from proposal through closure.
- Lead and oversee Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) and Phase II Site Investigations.
- Direct site characterization, remedial planning, and implementation activities.
- Prepare, review, and approve technical reports, work plans, and regulatory submissions.
- Coordinate project schedules, budgets, subcontractors, and field teams.
- Interface directly with clients, regulatory agencies, contractors, and project stakeholders.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior scientists and engineers.
- Support business development efforts, including proposal preparation and client relationship management.
- Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of environmental consulting or remediation experience.
- Strong background managing environmental projects throughout their full lifecycle.
- Experience conducting and overseeing Phase I and Phase II ESA programs.
- Extensive knowledge of site investigation, remediation, and risk evaluation practices.
- Familiarity with the Massachusetts Contingency Plan (MCP) and Massachusetts environmental regulations.
- Strong technical writing, report preparation, and data interpretation skills.
- Proven project management and client-facing experience.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Licensed Site Professional (LSP) certification or ability to obtain licensure.
- Experience serving as a project manager or technical lead on complex remediation projects.
- Familiarity with brownfield redevelopment, due diligence, and regulatory closure strategies.
- Experience mentoring junior technical staff.
