About the Opportunity
A growing multidisciplinary engineering and consulting firm is seeking a Structural Project Engineer to join its New York City team. This role is ideal for a licensed Professional Engineer looking to further develop their technical expertise while gaining exposure to project leadership, client interaction, and team mentorship opportunities.
The firm works across a diverse range of commercial, residential, hospitality, mixed-use, and specialty projects, offering exposure to complex structural challenges and a collaborative multidisciplinary environment.
Responsibilities
Technical Engineering Duties
- Perform structural design and analysis of steel, concrete, timber, and masonry structures.
- Prepare engineering calculations, technical specifications, and design documentation.
- Develop construction drawings, details, and project deliverables.
- Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and support construction administration efforts.
- Conduct site visits to verify field conditions and observe construction progress.
- Perform structural assessments, rehabilitation and repair design, and forensic investigations.
- Carry out QA/QC reviews and coordinate with project teams.
- Collaborate closely with architects, MEP engineers, geotechnical consultants, and other disciplines.
Project Leadership & Client-Facing Responsibilities
- Assist with project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource management.
- Participate in client meetings and provide technical guidance.
- Coordinate project teams and mentor junior engineers.
- Support proposal development, technical presentations, and business development efforts.
- Monitor project progress, identify risks, and help implement solutions.
Qualifications
Required
- Active New York Professional Engineer (PE) License
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- 3-6+ years of structural engineering experience within a consulting or design environment
- Experience with structural analysis and design software
- Strong technical writing and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Willingness to travel to project sites as needed
Preferred
- Master's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Revit experience
- Experience with structural rehabilitation, assessment, or forensic engineering projects
