Salary: $90,000 - $130,000 DOE

A growing Heavy Civil General Contractor is seeking a Project Manager / Estimator to join its team in Billings, Montana. This is an excellent opportunity for a construction professional who enjoys both project execution and preconstruction responsibilities. The successful candidate will play a key role in estimating, bidding, planning, and managing a variety of heavy civil construction projects throughout the region.

Projects may include excavation, grading, underground utilities, site development, earthwork, concrete, road construction, and other civil infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for heavy civil construction projects.
  • Review plans, specifications, and bid documents.
  • Solicit and analyze subcontractor and supplier pricing.
  • Develop project budgets, schedules, and work plans.
  • Manage projects from award through closeout.
  • Track job costs, production, and profitability.
  • Coordinate with owners, engineers, subcontractors, and field personnel.
  • Prepare and negotiate change orders.
  • Conduct project meetings and maintain client relationships.
  • Ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.

Experience Needed

  • 3+ years of experience in heavy civil construction estimating, project management, or a combination of both.
  • Experience with one or more of the following:
    • Earthwork and grading
    • Underground utilities
    • Road and highway construction
    • Site development
    • Concrete construction
    • Excavation projects
  • Experience preparing quantity takeoffs and bid proposals.
  • Experience managing project budgets and schedules.
  • Proven ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with public and private construction projects.

Qualifications Needed

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of heavy civil construction means and methods.
  • Experience with estimating software and project management tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and contracts.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to visit project sites as needed.
