Senior Traffic Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer to join a growing transportation team focused on private development projects throughout Texas. This individual will serve in a client-facing role, managing traffic engineering projects, building relationships with developers and land development teams, and providing technical leadership on complex transportation studies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage Traffic Impact Analyses (TIAs), Traffic Impact Studies (TIS), access management studies, and traffic operations analyses.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for private-sector clients, including developers, landowners, architects, and planning consultants.
  • Coordinate with municipalities, counties, and regulatory agencies to support project approvals.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, deliverables, and client expectations.
  • Provide technical oversight and mentorship to junior engineers and traffic staff.
  • Participate in business development efforts, including proposal preparation, client meetings, and relationship management.

Qualifications

  • Texas Professional Engineer (P.E.) license required.
  • 12-15+ years of traffic engineering experience within a consulting environment.
  • Strong background supporting private development projects including commercial, mixed-use, residential, industrial, and master-planned communities.
  • Extensive experience preparing and reviewing TIAs and other traffic studies.
  • Proven client-facing experience and ability to develop long-term relationships with private-sector clients.
  • Proficiency with Synchro, SimTraffic, HCS, and related traffic analysis software.
  • Strong communication, project management, and leadership skills.

Ideal Background

We're looking for someone whose career has been centered around private development traffic engineering rather than highway design, with deep experience working directly with developers and leading traffic studies from project inception through entitlement and approval. This position offers significant client exposure, technical leadership responsibilities, and the opportunity to help grow a private-side traffic practice.
