About the Opportunity
An established employee-owned engineering and consulting firm is seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer to lead the planning, analysis, and design of complex hydraulic, stormwater, drainage, and flood management projects. This role offers the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects for municipal, state, federal, and private-sector clients while contributing technical expertise, mentoring junior staff, and supporting project delivery across the Southeast.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead hydraulic and hydrologic design efforts for complex water resources and stormwater infrastructure projects.
- Develop engineering solutions for drainage systems, flood mitigation, watershed management, stream restoration, and stormwater management initiatives.
- Prepare, review, approve, and seal engineering designs in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic analyses to support planning, permitting, and design activities.
- Perform site visits, field investigations, and technical assessments to verify existing conditions and support engineering recommendations.
- Prepare technical reports, drainage studies, floodplain analyses, design memoranda, and supporting documentation.
- Support construction administration activities, including field reviews and design interpretation.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative and cost-effective solutions for clients.
- Support business development activities, including proposal preparation, scope development, and client presentations.
- Attend industry conferences, workshops, and professional events.
- Mentor junior engineers and technical staff while promoting engineering excellence and knowledge sharing.
- Review technical work products to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance with company standards.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong understanding of water resources engineering principles and best practices.
- Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, stormwater management, and drainage design.
- Proficiency in engineering design software and CADD platforms.
- Excellent technical writing and communication skills.
- Working knowledge of federal, state, and local permitting requirements.
- Strong project coordination and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments while maintaining high quality standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Minimum 7+ years of relevant water resources engineering experience.
- Experience leading technical tasks and coordinating project delivery.
- Ability to travel occasionally for project and client needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong experience in hydraulic analysis, stormwater management, and drainage system design.
- Familiarity with state and local drainage design standards, permitting requirements, and MS4 regulations.
- Experience delivering municipal stormwater and water resources infrastructure projects.
- Proven ability to develop construction plans, specifications, and bid packages for public-sector clients.
- Strong technical writing skills, including preparation of engineering reports, drainage studies, and technical memoranda.
- Ability and willingness to review, sign, and seal engineering documents as required.
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and supporting project delivery from planning through construction.
