My client is seeking a dynamic Senior Transportation - Water Resources Engineer to join their team in Richmond or Virginia Beach, VA. This is a seller-doer role with significant autonomy and growth potential. You'll lead hydraulics efforts across Virginia, focusing on hydrologic analysis, compliance, and hydraulic design for transportation projects-while also driving business development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead hydraulic and hydrologic design for transportation projects.
  • Perform stream analysis including scour analysis.
  • Develop stormwater management designs and plans.
  • Prepare permit drawings and coordinate FEMA FIS Flood Study CLOMR/LOMR submittals for review and approval.
  • Apply Hydraulic Engineering Circulars (HECs) for scour, stream stability, roadway stability, and countermeasure design (including HEC-18, HEC-20, HEC-23).
  • Drive business development and client relationships while delivering high-quality technical solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Virginia.
  • 16+ years of relevant experience.
  • Expertise in VDOT Hydraulics and Erosion & Sediment Control design.
  • Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic stream analysis.
  • Familiarity with FEMA processes and hydraulic design standards.

Preferred Experience

  • Previous experience as a Hydraulics Discipline Lead or ambition to grow into that role.
  • Development of complete contract advertisement documents (plans, engineer's estimates, bid quantities, specifications, and special provisions).
