Site Development Leader

A leading, well-established engineering consultancy is seeking a Land Development / Site Development Leader to play a key role in delivering major projects, driving regional growth, and building out a high-performing team across the DC Metro area and Northern Virginia.

This position offers the opportunity to combine technical leadership, client strategy, and business growth, with significant influence over both project delivery and long-term regional expansion.

The Role

In this position, you will operate as a senior leader across the business, with responsibility for both project execution and market growth:

  • Lead and oversee the delivery of complex land and site development projects across DC and Northern Virginia, from concept through construction
  • Act as the primary point of contact for key clients, maintaining and strengthening long-term relationships
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to a high technical standard
  • Provide oversight of design development, permitting strategy, and regulatory approvals across jurisdictions
  • Drive business development efforts, identifying new opportunities and expanding the firm's presence in both public and private sectors
  • Work closely with internal leadership on strategic planning and regional growth initiatives
  • Mentor, manage, and develop engineering staff, supporting career progression and technical excellence across the team
  • Lead client presentations, stakeholder meetings, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or related discipline)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licence in DC and/or Virginia, or ability to obtain in the near term
  • 15+ years of progressive experience within land or site development
  • Strong working knowledge of permitting processes, codes, and regulations across DC and Northern Virginia
  • Proven experience managing projects and leading engineering teams
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain client relationships and contribute to business development
  • Proficiency in Auto CAD and Microsoft Office
