Stormwater Engineer

A growing New England engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Stormwater Engineer to join its Portland office. This is an opportunity to play a key role in delivering transportation-focused water resources projects while helping shape the continued growth of a well-established stormwater practice.
The Role
You'll lead and support a wide range of transportation drainage and stormwater projects, working alongside roadway, bridge, and civil engineering teams on projects throughout Maine and the wider New England region.
Responsibilities include:
- Performing hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for transportation infrastructure projects.
- Designing roadway drainage systems, culverts, storm sewer networks, and stormwater management facilities.
- Developing flood mitigation, resiliency, and climate adaptation solutions.
- Preparing drainage reports, calculations, plans, specifications, and permit documentation.
- Coordinating with multidisciplinary project teams throughout planning, design, and construction.
- Mentoring junior engineers and providing technical guidance on H&H modelling and drainage design.
- Supporting client relationships with municipalities, transportation agencies, and public-sector stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- PE license or ability to obtain licensure in the near future.
- 5+ years of experience in stormwater, drainage, or water resources engineering.
- Strong experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modelling software.
- Experience supporting roadway, highway, bridge, or transportation infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with stormwater regulations, permitting, and drainage design standards.
- Strong communication and project coordination skills.
