We are working with a respected heavy civil contractor with a long-standing presence across the Midwest, known for delivering high-impact infrastructure projects including water and wastewater treatment facilities, transportation systems, and industrial developments. With a focus on safety, quality, and innovation, the company is expanding its field leadership team and seeking an experienced Superintendent to oversee daily operations on complex civil projects.

Position Summary

The Superintendent will be responsible for managing field operations and ensuring the successful execution of heavy civil construction projects. This role involves coordinating crews, subcontractors, and site logistics to maintain schedule, safety, and quality standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in water/wastewater treatment, industrial infrastructure, or other large-scale civil projects, and be comfortable traveling to job sites throughout the Midwest.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily field operations and supervise construction activities on-site.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, trades, and internal crews to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA and company standards.
  • Monitor project schedules and milestones, adjusting field activities as needed.
  • Conduct site inspections and quality control checks to ensure work meets specifications.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to resolve field issues.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports, logs, and documentation.
  • Support project startup, commissioning, and closeout activities.
  • Mentor and guide foremen and field staff to promote team development.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a Superintendent or Foreman in heavy civil construction.
  • Strong background in water/wastewater treatment, industrial facilities, or infrastructure projects.
  • Proven ability to manage field teams and subcontractors on multi-million dollar projects.
  • Excellent understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and schedules.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in field management tools and software (e.g., Procore, HCSS, Bluebeam).
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel regionally.
