Position Overview
The Land Surveying Technician will support survey projects through a combination of office and field responsibilities. This role involves processing survey data, preparing survey deliverables, assisting with boundary and topographic surveys, and collaborating with survey crews, engineers, and project managers to ensure accurate and timely project completion.
Responsibilities
- Process field data collected from GPS, robotic total stations, scanners, and other survey equipment.
- Prepare survey plats, boundary surveys, topographic surveys, ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, easement exhibits, and right-of-way plans.
- Perform drafting and mapping using survey and CAD software.
- Assist with deed research, title review, and boundary analysis.
- Support construction staking and as-built survey projects.
- Maintain project records, calculations, and documentation.
- Coordinate with project managers, survey crews, engineers, and clients.
- Ensure work meets company quality standards and applicable regulations.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology, Geomatics, or related field preferred.
- 2+ years of land surveying experience preferred.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and survey data processing software.
- Understanding of boundary surveys, topographic mapping, and construction layout.
- Ability to interpret plats, deeds, legal descriptions, and construction plans.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Experience
- ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys.
- Boundary and topographic survey preparation.
- GPS and robotic total station data collection and processing.
- Construction staking and as-built documentation.
- Experience supporting land development, transportation, municipal, or utility projects.
