Locations: Houston / Dallas / Austin or San Francisco / Los Angeles (hybrid flexibility available)
Comp: $170,000-$240,000 base (commensurate with experience & location)
The Opportunity
A top-tier, global multi‑disciplinary consultancy is hiring a Transmission Line Engineering Leader to deliver and lead high-voltage and extra-high-voltage overhead transmission projects (69kV-500kV) for major utilities and fast-growing energy infrastructure clients (including renewables and data center interconnections). This is a high-impact role with clear runway to build and lead your own team while staying technically hands-on across the full project lifecycle.
What You'll Do
- Lead technical strategy and delivery for HV/EHV overhead transmission line design (69kV-500kV)
- Perform/review conductor selection, shielding, grounding, and induction studies
- Develop/review design criteria, cost analyses, routing/siting inputs, and ROW requirements
- Prepare/review sag & tension calculations and plan/profile drawing packages
- Review and validate models in PLS‑CADD (core tool)
- Coordinate with construction teams, vendors, and clients; support construction-phase issue resolution
- Support proposals, estimates, and work-winning efforts; help shape the growth plan
- Mentor junior engineers/designers and lead QA/QC across multi-office delivery
What We're Looking For
Required
- Bachelor's in Engineering (ABET-accredited)
- 12+ years of overhead transmission line design experience
- Strong proficiency in PLS‑CADD
- Experience managing schedules/budgets and leading project teams
- Strong knowledge of applicable codes/standards (e.g., NESC and related industry standards)
- PE license (or ability to obtain within ~1 year)
- Strong client-facing communication and credibility
Nice to Have
- PLS‑TOWER, SAG10, LPILE, MFAD, ArcGIS, CDEGS, AutoCAD, MicroStation
- Proposal leadership, estimates, and business development track record
- Occasional travel for site/client/vendor meetings
