Transportation Resident Engineer

As a Transportation Resident Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of major roadway and transportation initiatives across the Chicagoland region. You'll partner with a talented technical team, providing on‑site leadership and ensuring that critical infrastructure projects move forward efficiently and successfully from your assigned field office.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily roadway rehabilitation and construction activities, ensuring all work aligns with project specifications, timelines, and budget expectations.
- Serve as the primary on‑site contact, coordinating communication among owners, contractors, and stakeholders to maintain momentum and address field concerns.
- Proactively identify and resolve construction challenges to keep projects on track.
- Lead a team of field inspectors, assigning daily tasks and ensuring accurate, timely documentation of work performed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
- Active Illinois Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- 5-10 years of experience in transportation or construction management.
- Minimum of 2 years as a licensed Resident Engineer with hands‑on roadway construction leadership experience.
- CM and/or PMP certification preferred.
- Prior experience with Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) projects is highly desirable.
