About the Opportunity

An established and growing engineering consultancy is seeking a Lead Water Resources Engineer to help drive the continued expansion of its water resources practice. This is an opportunity for a technical and project leadership professional to play a key role in delivering impactful infrastructure, stormwater, drainage, flood mitigation, and water management projects across a diverse client base.

The position offers the flexibility of a fully remote environment while providing access to complex, high-profile projects and a collaborative team of engineers, planners, and environmental professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage water resources projects from planning through final design and construction support.
  • Serve as a technical expert for hydrology and hydraulic analyses.
  • Oversee stormwater management, drainage, floodplain, watershed, and resilience projects.
  • Review engineering designs, reports, calculations, and project deliverables.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships with municipalities, state agencies, transportation departments, and private clients.
  • Mentor and develop junior and mid-level engineers.
  • Support business development efforts, including proposals, presentations, and pursuit strategies.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams and ensure successful project execution.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and quality control processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • 6+ years of water resources engineering experience.
  • Strong experience with:
    • Stormwater management
    • Drainage design
    • Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling
    • Floodplain analysis
    • Watershed planning
    • FEMA-related studies and permitting
  • Proficiency with industry software such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HY-8, Civil 3D, GIS, ICPR, SWMM, or similar tools.
  • Proven experience leading projects and managing client relationships.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
