Water/Wastewater Project Engineer
An engineering consulting firm is seeking a Water/Wastewater Engineer to support projects from one of its Pennsylvania offices. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals on a variety of industrial and municipal infrastructure initiatives. Key Responsibilities
- Support the planning and design of water and wastewater treatment systems, conveyance infrastructure, and related utility projects for municipal and industrial facilities, including manufacturing plants, power generation stations, and mission-critical campuses.
- Perform engineering analyses and calculations associated with water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure for new developments, upgrades, and rehabilitation projects.
- Contribute to technical evaluations, engineering studies, system layouts, and preparation of project specifications.
- Prepare and coordinate environmental and utility permit applications to meet regulatory requirements.
- Conduct occasional field assignments, including site assessments, sampling activities, construction observations, and documentation of field findings.
- Develop engineering drawings and design documents using Civil 3D and other design software platforms.

- Primarily office-based work in a professional setting.
- Extended periods of computer and desk-related activities.
- Frequent use of keyboards, computer equipment, and standard office tools.
- Ability to review technical reports, design drawings, and electronic documentation.
- Occasional movement throughout office facilities and active participation in meetings.
- Capability to handle materials or equipment weighing up to approximately 20 pounds when necessary.
- Sufficient hearing and communication abilities for in-person, phone, and virtual interactions.
- Flexibility to travel periodically for project meetings, site visits, training programs, or other business needs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited institution. Advanced degrees are advantageous.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities, including the preparation of technical reports and project documentation.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of multidisciplinary project teams.
- Commitment to producing high-quality deliverables while maintaining a proactive and professional attitude.
- Experience with design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, or BIM platforms.
- Familiarity with GIS applications, including ArcGIS and water/wastewater network modeling tools, is beneficial.

Experience Requirements
- Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in water, wastewater, environmental, or civil engineering.
Education
- B.S. or M.S. in Engineering or a closely related technical field.
Licenses & Certifications
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) registration.

- Develops and designs complete engineering systems, processes, or infrastructure components.
- Produces comprehensive plans, specifications, calculations, and supporting documentation.
- Performs engineering investigations, data analysis, and design evaluations.
- Reviews project deliverables to ensure technical accuracy, consistency, and quality standards are maintained.
Project Leadership & Coordination
- Delegates project assignments to technical and support staff as appropriate.
- Coordinates engineering activities and manages key project deliverables.
- Assists in developing scopes of work, cost estimates, and project schedules.
- Supports proposal development, client pursuits, and funding applications for engineering initiatives.
Mentorship & Collaboration
- Works with general direction while exercising independent judgment on routine and moderately complex assignments.
- Seeks guidance for unique technical challenges while contributing solutions to project teams.
- Provides mentoring and technical support to junior engineers and emerging professionals.
- Participates in client meetings and project discussions, presenting engineering findings and recommendations when required.
