A nationally recognized engineering consulting firm is seeking an experienced Environmental or Civil Engineer to support a range of municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects throughout California. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex conveyance, pipeline, pump station, treatment, and utility improvement projects while partnering with multidisciplinary technical teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead engineering tasks and workstreams for water and wastewater capital improvement projects.
- Support planning, design, analysis, rehabilitation, and expansion of public utility infrastructure.
- Prepare and review engineering calculations, technical reports, plans, and specifications.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable local, state, and federal requirements.
- Conduct site investigations, condition assessments, and technical evaluations.
- Assist with hydraulic modeling, water quality evaluations, and other engineering studies.
- Contribute to technical excellence initiatives through research, presentations, technical papers, and knowledge-sharing efforts.
- Participate in proposal development, client presentations, and business development activities.
- Provide mentorship, guidance, and technical oversight to junior engineering staff.
Desired Experience
- Experience delivering water, wastewater, pipeline, pump station, or utility infrastructure projects.
- Strong background in engineering design within a consulting environment.
- Ability to manage project tasks, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and support project delivery.
- Experience mentoring junior-level engineers and technical staff.
- Familiarity with engineering software, CAD platforms, and standard project delivery tools.
- Understanding of California regulatory requirements related to municipal infrastructure projects.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Approximately 7+ years of relevant engineering experience.
- Ability to travel occasionally for project meetings, field work, or client engagements.
Preferred Qualifications
- California PE registration.
- Consulting engineering experience focused on water or wastewater infrastructure.
- Background in conveyance systems, utility design, treatment facilities, or site development projects.
- Strong client-facing, presentation, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience leading project teams and developing junior professionals.
