Water/Wastewater Project Manager

Location: Phoenix, AZ

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Water/Wastewater Project Manager to join our growing Phoenix team. This individual will lead the planning, design, and delivery of critical water and wastewater infrastructure projects throughout Arizona while serving as a trusted advisor to municipal clients and a mentor to engineering staff.

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in water and wastewater systems, proven project management experience, and the ability to successfully manage client relationships, project teams, and business development efforts.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management

  • Manage water and wastewater infrastructure projects from planning and design through construction and project closeout.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, staffing plans, and resource allocations.
  • Monitor project performance to ensure successful delivery, profitability, and client satisfaction.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including civil, environmental, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineers.
  • Manage project scope and identify potential risks and opportunities throughout project execution.

Technical Leadership

  • Oversee the design of water treatment, wastewater treatment, water distribution, and wastewater collection system projects.
  • Review engineering reports, calculations, plans, specifications, and technical deliverables.
  • Guide project teams through permitting, regulatory compliance, and agency coordination processes.
  • Provide engineering support during bidding, construction administration, and field services activities.
  • Ensure adherence to quality management standards and industry best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • 8+ years of experience in water and wastewater engineering consulting.
  • Proven experience managing municipal infrastructure projects and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong understanding of water and wastewater treatment systems, conveyance infrastructure, and utility design.
  • Experience managing project budgets, schedules, and client relationships.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Arizona municipal water and wastewater projects.
  • Water and wastewater treatment plant design and rehabilitation.
  • Pump stations, lift stations, and pipeline projects.
  • Capital Improvement Programs (CIPs).
  • Facility master planning and infrastructure assessment projects.
  • Design-build and alternative delivery experience.
  • Existing relationships with Arizona municipalities and utility agencies.
