Associate Transmission System Operator
Required:
- 0-3 years of experience in a utility, industrial, or production environment (partial years of 6+ months count as 1 year; a master's degree can substitute for 1 year of experience).
- Basic knowledge of mathematics, safety, and emergency procedures.
- Beginner skills in Microsoft Office, communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and collaboration.
- Critical thinking, attention to detail, and ability to handle high-stress situations.
- Dependable, ethical, personable, and flexible.
- Must operate a vehicle and respond to emergency storm events.
- Must work 12-hour rotating shifts.
Preferred:
- Basic understanding of NERC/PJM regulations, electrical principles, control systems, substation equipment, and power station operations.
Licenses, Certifications, and Qualifications:
- Must obtain NERC Certification (Transmission Operator or Reliability Coordinator) and PJM Certification within 6 months (company-sponsored). No more than 4 total test attempts.
- Complete the Operator Qualification program within 18 months.
- This role involves direct supervision, monitoring the Bulk Electric System, responding to system changes, and controlling equipment using SCADA.
- Prepare and provide instructions for switching operations and log system activities.
The company will support you in obtaining your NERC RC certification.
