Job Description: As a Land Survey Crew Chief, you will lead a team of survey technicians in conducting field surveys and collecting data to support land development and infrastructure projects. You will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and quality of survey data while adhering to project specifications and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a survey crew in conducting field surveys, including boundary surveys, topographic surveys, and construction staking.
- Operate surveying instruments, such as total stations, GPS equipment, and levels, to collect accurate field data.
- Interpret survey data and assist in the preparation of survey maps, plats, and legal descriptions.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients to schedule field surveys and deliver surveying services on time and within budget.
- Ensure compliance with surveying standards, regulations, and safety protocols during field operations.
- Mentor and train junior survey technicians to develop their skills and knowledge in land surveying techniques and practices.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in land surveying preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Land Survey Crew Chief or survey technician in the land surveying industry.
- Proficiency in operating surveying instruments and equipment, including total stations and GPS units.
- Strong understanding of land surveying principles, techniques, and standards.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively coordinate and direct a survey crew.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on producing accurate survey data and documentation.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
