The focus of this role lies in mission-critical data center projects, tapping into a rapidly growing multibillion-dollar industry. Highlighted as a priority sector within our organization, this international practice involves collaborative work across various departments. As a Senior Structural Engineer, the primary responsibility is leading structural design project teams for new developments, alterations, and reconstructions across a spectrum of project types, including power, healthcare, airports, and more. Leading the project team through design and construction phases involves adapting plans to align with budget constraints and client needs.
Responsibilities:
- Lead structural design from conceptualization to completion based on project requirements.
- Prepare structural equipment specifications, RFQs, bid summaries, and purchase recommendations.
- Review vendor drawings and collaborate with suppliers, clients, and other engineering disciplines.
- Contribute to project scheduling, scope, budgeting, and construction planning, ensuring effective management of change orders.
- Apply expert knowledge to complex projects, finding innovative design solutions.
- Quality review production drawings and construction administration to verify corrections within CAD software.
- Conduct field inspections, measurements, and calculations for clients.
- Prepare and present technical reports for clients and industry publications.
- Develop relationships with existing and potential clients and contribute to business development.
- Participate in sales, marketing efforts, and lead proposal development.
- Present project budgets, cost estimates, and report project performance.
- Provide leadership and mentorship within the structural engineering practice.
- Ensure adherence to QA/QC processes, compliance with safety policies, and communication with other engineering disciplines.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Structural Engineering or related field from an ABET-accredited program.
- 7+ years of structural engineering experience, preferably with EPC project experience.
- Expertise in engineering techniques, structural design codes (IBC, AISC, ACI, ASCE7), and proficiency in software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience leading discipline design for large projects and delegating tasks within a team.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Ability to perform quality reviews for engineering documents and specifications.
- Willingness to travel.
- Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred.
