Title: Structural Engineer (Buildings)
Overview: As a Structural Engineer specializing in buildings, you'll be responsible for designing, analyzing, and overseeing the construction of safe, durable, and efficient structures. Your role involves collaborating with architects, construction teams, and other engineering disciplines to ensure the structural integrity and functionality of buildings.
Responsibilities:
Structural Design and Analysis:
- Develop structural designs for various building types, considering factors like safety, sustainability, and functionality.
- Utilize software tools for structural analysis and modeling to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.
- Perform calculations, simulations, and evaluations to optimize designs and materials for cost-effective and safe construction.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with architects, contractors, and other engineering teams to integrate structural elements into building designs.
- Communicate technical information effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
- Participate in meetings to discuss project requirements, progress, and modifications.
Project Management:
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring adherence to deadlines and budgets.
- Coordinate with project managers to develop schedules, budgets, and timelines.
- Oversee the construction phase, providing support and addressing structural concerns or modifications as needed.
Quality Assurance and Compliance:
- Conduct inspections and quality checks to verify compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
- Ensure that all structural elements meet local building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Review and approve construction documents, drawings, and specifications.
Research and Development:
- Stay updated with advancements in structural engineering technology, materials, and construction methods.
- Implement innovative and sustainable solutions in building design and construction practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering from an accredited program.
- 3-15 years of experience in structural engineering, preferably focusing on buildings.
- Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., ETABS, SAP2000, STAAD Pro) and CAD tools.
- Strong knowledge of building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Effective communication abilities, both written and verbal.
- Project management experience is a plus.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward licensure is preferred.
